As a discipline, behavioral health refers to mental health, psychiatric, marriage and family counseling, and addictions treatment, and it includes services provided by social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, neurologists, and physicians. The courses below are not intended for state licensure however, they meet the requirements for continuing education and professional development and may qualify the participant to take state or national exams. Vincent Career Training Institute is an approved provider of continuing education for the certification and recertification for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors in the state of Texas. ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIORS
This is a professional course in counseling designed for individuals seeking advanced training in the assessment and treatment of abusive family systems. This course will elaborate on child abuse, neglect, and physical and sexual abuse and its impact on the individual and the family. COUNSELING AND THE CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY PROCESS
This course is a study of alcohol and other drug abuse, the process of chemical dependency, its impact on the family and its importance in the area of counseling. This course will enable the counselor to identify and assess the substance abuser and examine the counselor’s role in the prevention and intervention process. Students will develop knowledge of the behavioral, psychological, physical health, and social effects of psychoactive substances and addictive disorders on the user and significant others. It will examine the history, philosophy and trends in addiction counseling. The student will learn to identify the various symptoms of progressive stages of chemical dependency and counseling modalities for treatment-45 CLOCK HOURS
CO-OCCURING DISORDERS AND TREATMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS
Students will utilize the intake interview, mental status exam, and gathering of biopsychosocial and mental health histories to aid in the diagnostic process and development of treatment plans. Students will explore specific evidence-based interventions/techniques used with clients to address mental health concerns. Students will understand the basics pertaining to psychotropic drugs used in the treatment of mental health disorders.

​CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY: EVIDENCE-BASED AND INTEGRATED TREATMENT
This course is for the student who wishes to develop and refine skills in the area of addictions counseling. The course will examine the roles, functions, and settings of addiction counselors. Students will develop knowledge and skills related to evidence-based approaches to address addictions and integrated mental health, trauma and addictions treatment.-45 CLOCK HOURS
CHRISTIAN COUNSELING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
This professional development course is an introduction to counseling theory within a Christian worldview. This online certificate program integrates the Christian worldview and the Bible into counseling or helping-field concepts. It teaches the boundaries and limitations for helpers, counseling theories, and the relationship between biblical concepts and healthy relationships. 4 Courses- and Practicum
This course meets the requirements for continuing education, certification, and recertification for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors, Interns, and other professionals. This course address the development of the professional applying ethics in the workplace or private practice. This is an introductory course to Ethics in the workplace. The primary audience is psychologists, counselors, therapists,s and social workers.

HIV/AIDS AND SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES
This course examines the treatment and treatment of HIV in people with substance use and/or mental disorders. It includes: Overview of current approaches and challenges to preventing and treating HIV for people with mental illness and/or SUD, current evidence on the effectiveness of programs and strategies to prevent HIV among people with co-occurring mental illness and/ or SUD and link them to HIV care- 15 CLOCK HOURS
PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATIONS OF COUNSELING
This foundational course provides a historical and philosophical overview of the field of counseling. History, current trends, professional issues, and numerous areas within the counseling field will be critically examined. Professional organizations, preparation standards, roles and credentials relevant to the practice of counseling in multiple settings will also be discussed.- 45 CLOCK HOURS
